Cunard Cruise 2012
Trip Day 13
Monday, April 2nd
Mumbai, India

Today's port of call is Mumbai, India. This is the second of the two ports of call the cruise has in India.

If all goes well this will also be the start of the most expensive shore excursion I have ever taken. It costs more than some cruises I have taken. More about that in the shore excursion area below.

The time in all of India is 10.5 hours ahead of home . The time zone is IST or India Standard Time. There is no daylight time in India so it stays this time year round.

As noted above the shore excursion that I have selected for here is very expensive and it called "The Taj Mahal". It is scheduled to take 4 days, and 3 night and the departure time is not shown in the information I am working from at this point. Briefly this excursion consists of leaving the ship in Mumbai and taking a two hour flight to Delhi and a bus ride to Agra where the Taj Mahal is located. I stay two nights in Agra and one night in Delhi. On the fourth day I fly from Delhi to Dubai, take a short tour there and return to the ship which has sailed from Mumbai to Dubai in the mean time. The entries in the "My Voyage Itinerary" above currently say "At Sea" for the days the ship is sailing but if this goes off as planned I may change them later. The descriptions for this excursion will appear on the pages for the days the events are expected to happen.

Here is the description of day one of the excursion from Cunard's information:

A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience India and one of the world’s most breathtaking sights, the fabled Taj Mahal.

DAY 1 - DELHI TO AGRA, overnight in Agra

Mumbai will be the gateway to your Indian overland adventure. Transfer to the airport where you will take a two hour flight from Mumbai to Delhi. On arrival, enjoy luncheon at the Taj Mahal Hotel in Delhi before continuing your journey by land to Agra. The City of Agra was the capital to the Mughals in the 16th and 17th centuries and is home to some of their most famous monuments. Check in to the perfectly situated Oberoi Amarvilas Hotel in Agra, where you will be staying for two nights. Dinner will be served in the Hotel.

As always there are some additional notes (especially for this excursion as you can no doubt imagine) and here are some of those;
